The first time around we were using Yosemite on the mac and Windows 8.1 on the PCs. I have a short break and am trying again. I bought a LOT of these at the suggestion of an electrical engineer who was supposed to teach my students how to use them with an IR sensor and IR led. I've gone through the instructions repeatedly and tried it on my MacBook Air (Yosemite) since the driver step shouldn't be necessary on a mac, but I had the same result - no active com port selection. I've tried several different Trinkets with the same results. The Trinket doesn't show in the Device Manager. I'm not sure if both of those last two steps are necessary - I would think it would be one or the other.Īfter installing all this, I never get the option to add my own driver which is supposed to happen in Windows.

That didn't work so I downloaded the Fake USB and followed those instructions (I installed and setup the com0com tool). I added the board to my list (by adding the URL in Preferences). Arduino Trinket but the com port selector under 'Tools' remains grayed out. I have spent hours trying to upload a sketch to a 5v.
